Ethnographic Research

Wieden+Kennedy India, 2010 - 2015

The human capacity to feel and find meaning will never change. There is no empathy and there are no ideas without immersion. It was my privilege to be able to go the distance and invest quality time in learning firsthand from our customers.

Blind Spot Exhibition

It is often said that there are too many differences in our middle class for there to be a common sensibility of any kind. Harsher commentators have even suggested that the middle class lacks taste, never mind aesthetic sense.

Blind Spot is a first-of-its-kind exhibition that challenges these generalizations. The exhibition brings to life seven contemporary sensibilities, each complete with their visual and verbal vocabularies.

Born out of a pan-Indian ethnographic study, this exhibition is the result of one-on-one expert interviews with prominent designers and design bloggers, field visits to private residences in multiple cities, focus groups across socio-economic backgrounds, and the analysis of personal design journals.

Blind Spot uses photography, cultural references and research to define and explore each sensibility. It is an opportunity for marketers, designers and the culturally curious to use them as an inspirational springboard for their own creative or commercial missions.
